The value of houses in the city of Ballarat have been impacted by its climate in a few ways, the first being that the milder temperatures, but still noticeable seasonal changes had made the city appear to be a very desirable place to live, with my enjoying being there and experiencing the changing seasons. Another way that the value of housing in Ballarat has been impacted due to the local climate is that the drought that took place between the years of 2006 and 2007 had a major impact on the tourism industry. With strict water usage laws, and concern for the future, tourism dropped fairly noticeably between 2006 and 2007. Since then, as the rainfall has picked up, the city has made a great recovery and has begun to welcome even more tourists than before.
Although the climate that your house is located in might not be the first thing that you think of when trying to determine what your house is worth, it is definitely something that should be taken into consideration. The climate of an area can not only directly impact the quality of the lives of the citizens (the drought, and flooding) but it can also have a large impact on the economy and the success of the various industries within the city.
